Hi guys, I'm hoping to resolve a long running issue regarding my mice.

I will briefly explain the problem, and then details or "points" will follow. But basically I started PC gaming around 2 years
ago at which point mouse sensitivities felt fine I had no problems, around 6-7 months of PC gaming something felt odd straight away.
At the time I started to feel my aim was off and I wasn't sure why at all.

At the start my first assumption was it has to be the mouse (R.A.T 3), so I thought well maybe it's broke so I ended up buying a
Razer Deathadder 2013 of which still didn't feel right again the same thing happened.

So after trying those 2 mouse another 3 mice were tried tested and this really started to put me off, I also have 3 different mouse pads (not a surface issue).

Now the problem is actually making simple movements is very difficult, before when everything felt fine I didn't even have to think about aiming it was natural; now it is a case of correcting and really concentrating on it.

Here are some points below which may give some kind of insight hopefully:

I have Own/owned 4-6 gaming mice both optical and laser.

3 different mouse pads, 2 cloth and one plastic based.

Windows 7 updates alter mouse sensitivity slightly(strange).

at first it all felt fine, then something altered (maybe I altered a setting?)

I have changed out every component in my pc (except for HDD), problem existed with old hardware anyway.

Mouse movements don't feel grippy, don't feel anywhere near as responsive as they should be.

when I compare my mouse "aim" to ANYONE else, I mean EVERYONE it looks completely different.
I don't just mean how they aim but how the mouse movements look responsive and are accurate.

R.A.T 3 with 900 DPI (with drivers installed)

Started PC Gaming around 2 years ago, Reinstalled Windows 7 Twice (no fix)

I tried Windows 8.1, it felt better (strange) however Windows 8.1 had it's own issues with mice (glitches),
making the mouse move on it's own etc.

Razer Deathadder 2013,
Gigabyte M6900,
Perixx MX2000IIB
Anker 8200DPI,

Mouse Pads:
Razer Sphinx,
Razer Goliathus,
MadCatz GLIDE

FX8350 4GHZ No OC
G-SKILL 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ
HD 7850 2GB GDDR5 OC Edition
CORSAIR 650W PSU

Any kind of solution will extremely helpful, even if you don't believe it will help.

I am willing to give a free game (7 Days To Die) for the troubles, if it isn't against the rules to do so of course.
Either way any help whatsoever will be appreciated a LOT.

Many thanks,

Luke

Solution
It sounds like some kind of software issue where the mouse has a smoothing factor (when you stop moving the mouse the cursor speed is smoothed.)

Alternatively it could be an issue with your monitor. If you monitor has a slight delay for some reason it could make the mouse seem sluggish.
Firstly, I would be ashamed at anyone who would accept the game for helping. The forum population want to help and shouldn't need paying to do so. With that said.

Does the mouse seem sluggish (slight delay from physical movement to cursor movement)? Is the physical resistance to the mouse different causing over-compensation?
Is there a particular game/application where this issue began? Is the mouse wired or wireless?

I am sure you are aware it is difficult to trouble shoot issues with 'feel' as we cannot see tangible results of this.

I really only posted about the free game, due to how long this problem has been annoying me for. And to show that it is really appreciated

yes the mouse feels sluggish, infact any of my mice all feel the same. especially as well my laser mice they feel really "slippery" aswell,

I'm sure it isn't due to physical friction as I have tried multiple combinations, and upon looking at the same pads no-one else has mentioned the problem of too little or too much friction being a problem.

It occurs for every game, this also includes the deskop. It is a problem that affects everything on my PC, even on the desktop I struggle to properly click buttons at times. all my mice are wired.

and yes it's really difficult to explain as it seems no one else has had this before, I am thinking of making a video or diagram to try and help explain it.

the only reason why this is an issue to me is because, from a gaming perspective I always feel at a disadvantage (FPS games) even with the problem it is still "do-able" but isn't practical.

and also on the desktop and general Windows usage makes it frustrating just to even press buttons it feels slippery.

Does the cursor go too far after movements but the speed seems about right?

Try plugging the mouse in different USB ports 2.0 and 3.0
Try checking mouse settings in control panel for anything with the word 'smoothing' or acceleration maybe.

I will try the different ports, and I have acceleration and everything turned off with 6/11 on pointer speed

Right so I tried a couple of different ports, it resets the driver thinking it's a new mouse. which just gives it a really high sensitivity, it feels way too high ingame aswell even with lowest settings.

I just plugged my Perixx laser mouse in and that behaves really strange, as if the laser picks my mouse mat up like an ice rink

Solution

I know seems to be the problem with me aswell unfortunately, thanks for the solutions though I appreciate your time

Hey dude, I'm in safe mode atm and the mouse actually feels fine on the desktop. unfortunately I can't load any games from Steam in this mode. Is there anything I can do to test it in a game?

You could try playing minesweeper? 😛
No not really as your computer wouldn't be able to support the graphics in safe mode.

bahahah, stuck to browser games all my life 🙁

still no idea why safe mode works fine but normal doesn't
